![]() I moved to 1Password after a year or two, because it was the best rated PM I could find at the time, and I liked that the vault was stored locally with synchronization options. The mobile autofill was pretty much nonexistent, there was no desktop client, etc, and I really didn't like the idea of my vault living on someone else's servers. 2012-2013-ish maybe? It was all right at the time, but the UX was pretty bad back then. BW doesn't have support for any smartwatch. It is most wanted feature for two years but still BW didn't implement it. 1P has browser inline window, like Lastpass you can click on login field and 1P shows recommended actions and logins. BW has an ability to re-prompt for master password for specific login items. They are getting active feedback about it now. 1P has more default categories, but BW will implement it this year in Q3. BW and 1P have dedicated supports, but BW support is much more responsive and quicker. ![]() You can securely store files both in 1P and BW. 1P has no standalone option, no free option, no self-hosting option. BW is free, can be self-hosted, or you can get premium and family packs much cheaper than 1P. 1P responds only in forums and giving mostly generic answers. BW team is regularly doing webinars, where you can ask questions directly to management and dev team. ![]() BW is open source, audited, and also, they have an actual roadmap, unlike 1Password. If someone has access to your computer, they can see your secret key openly. Secret Key can be found in 1password.sqlite without hashes and encryption. 1P forces to enter master password, then it activates Windows Hello. You can unlock BW via Windows Hello on startup. BW interface is smooth, but it lacks Watchtower like function in the desktop app. Now they are forcing us to use tags which no one asked for. They removed categories from sidebar and put them into top menu for literally no logical reason. This issue exists for years and still no fix from 1P. In v7 Windows app was laggy, opening app, even Mini was taking half a minute or so due to WPF if your refresh rate is higher than 60 Hz. They left native apps and using only Electron with many features removed. I will compare only consumer editions because I didn't use corporate versions. I am using both of them, 1P Family and BW Premium.
